One Step hCG Early Pregnancy Tests and LH Ovulation Predictors are FDA approved and for sale in the USA. Three formats are avaiable for variable applications and ease of use.

Test Strip Format
The strip format is the most cost-effective design for professional use. To perform the test, the exposed end portion of the strip is directly immersed into the urine specimen. The strip can stay in the specimen at a vertical position for the whole procedure, or can be moved to a level surface. Another method is to drop the specimen onto the exposed end portion at the horizontal position. All test strips come individual sealed in foil packets.

Cassette Format
The cassette format is a strip housed in a protective plastic case. In this way, the test is easier to handle and helps to avoid contamination. The specimen volume is standardized by use of the plastic dropper provided with the test kit. After the specimen is dropped in the well, the sample flows along the reaction region of the membrane. The results appear in the window within 60 seconds and are ready to read in 3 minutes.

Stick Format
This patent pending stick-shaped design features a unique, absorbent, urine capture area with cap and a sealed result window. To perform the test, the patient immerses the capture end in the urine stream for a few seconds. The stick is then placed on a level surface and the results are ready to read in 3 minutes. The stick design is well suited for patient use in the clinic or at home.

Technical Summary
UniMark test strips and devices are colored, solid-phase immunoassays for the qualitative detection of elevated levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine or serum for early diagnosis of pregnancy, or for the qualitative detection of elevated levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine for ovulation prediction. The tests are based on sandwich immunoassay techniques that utilize unique combinations of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies to selectively identify hCG or LH. All products have a sample pad and membrane area. The sample pad contains mouse anti-hCG or anti-LH antibodies conjugated to colloidal gold particles. The specimen is first absorbed up onto the sample pad. The hormone, if present, reacts with the anti-hormone antibody conjugate and moves up the membrane by capillary action. The test zone of the membrane contains immobilized goat anti-hormone antibodies that capture the conjugate to form an antibody-hormone-antibody-gold conjugate complex. This complex produces a purple band at the test zone indicating a positive result. The absence of a purple band in the test zone indicates a negative result. The appearance of the purple band in the control window demonstrates proper performance and validity of the test, as the control zone is coated with goat anti-mouse IgG antibodies. Therefore, two purple bands are needed for a valid, positive result indicating increased levels of hCG or LH in the sample. Laboratory studies and practical use anytime of day indicate an accuracy rate of greater than 99% for hCG. UniMark assays detect urinary hCG concentrations of 25 mIU/mL or greater enabling positive results as early as 4 days before a missed period. Rapid Screen Tests are used by hospitals, clinics and the retail consumers to help analyze many human health conditions. ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) tests provide the professional with highly sensitive and precise methods to analyze a variety of biological parameters. The tests are based on color change immunoassays using specimens, enzyme substrates and the passive attachment of proteins, including antibodies and antigens as well as carbohydrates to the plastic micro-well plates. ELISA tests can be qualitative or quantitative based on the technology used. With the addition of automated spectrophotometers, a large number of samples can be processed rapidly.
