HANSEL is a federal trademark, Tinea Test and Oticell are Minnesota trademarks belonging to Lide Laboratories Inc.
We manufacture many different types of culture media intended for veterinary use.  Many types of media are produced and can be used for the identification and isolation of bacteria or other organisms. Single (mono) plates to quad plates with multiple agars are designed to be species specific and selective for both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. The proper identification of a source organism can help assure the appropriate use and best selection of antibiotics.

Our Mastitis Quad Plate offers a combination of four different types of media for overnight identification of mastitis pathogens. For more information about our Mastitis Quad Plate, click on the product photo.
Our Urine Quad Plate contains four agars and is designed for the growth, quantification and identification of urinary tract infections.  For more information about our Urine Quad Plate, click on the product photo.
Our OTICELL™ Quad Plate has been designed to help separate and identify the microorganism(s) that are present in an otic sample. For more information about our OTICELL Quad Plate, click on the product photo.
Our Tinea Test™ Bi-Plate contains both a selective and nonselective medium designed for the growth and and identify dermatphytic fungi.  For more information about our Tinea Bi-Plate, click on the product photo.
We produce mono-plates containing a variety of media including Heart Infusion Blood Agar (BAP), Mueller Hinton (large and standard size plates) as well as Bi-Plates containing BAP and MaConkey Agars, Basic Tri Plates containing BAP, CNA and MaConkey Agars and our Standard Quad Plates (BAP, CNA, MaConkey and Brilliant Green Agars) used extensively for mare uterine infections.

All culture media plates require incubation for at least 24 hours. Temperature and duration may vary with the plate being used. All plates should be stored at refrigerated temperature prior to use. A Lab ID Chart which contains deferential growth characteristics and morphology of common bacteria is provided to our customers to help identify common organisms. If your herd is having trouble with Prototheca Mastitis, try our Sabouraud Dextrose with Chloramphenicol Plate for the separation and identification of Prototheca.
This photo shows a positive Prototheca sample cultured on Lide Labs' Sabouraud Dextrose with Chloramphenicol Plate.
The algae grows on the media as white, raised colonies.
